JOB DESCRIPTION: Regional Coordinator, Far From the Heart

Sheatre is a community-based, professional arts organization that uses collaborative creative processes and traditional artistic practices to respond to community needs and interests. We are a not-for-profit charitable organization, incorporated in Ontario.

Position Summary:
The position of Regional Coordinator is being created to support the 2017 tour of the award-winning program, Far From the Heart / Loin du Coeur (FFTH/LC) in Ontario. FFTH/LC is a live theatre presentation and educational forum that engages and educates youth on the subjects of dating violence, sexual assault, consent, and safe relationships. Reporting to Sheatre's Educational Coordinator and Artistic Director and working closely with the Education and Tour Coordinator, the Regional Coordinator will recruit, train, and coordinate community partners to support the performances and facilitate post-show discussions following each show in their region as well as schedule and deliver orientation sessions for teachers and educators from each school.

Responsibilities
The Regional Trainer will be responsible for:

• Completing a one-day online training and orientation to the position;

• Assisting with facilitator recruitment by preparing and distributing outreach and recruitment materials to potential facilitators within their region. Facilitators will include professionals in the social work, violence prevention, health, justice, and/or education fields;

• Assisting with distributing facilitator and teacher manuals and education guides;

• Liaising with facilitators through ongoing correspondence (phone and email) and in-person meetings;

• Developing and maintaining a schedule and schedule document for facilitators;

• Planning, scheduling, and delivering local and/or virtual training sessions for community facilitators;

• Planning, scheduling, and delivering teacher orientation sessions;

• Working with the logistical coordinator to arrange post-show discussions after each performance;

• Attending all performances in their region;

• Supervising and collecting feedback from facilitators following the presentations;

• Delivering regular feedback to supervisors and the FFTH/LC team on issues arising during discussions with students;

• Distributing, collecting, organizing, and documenting feedback forms from facilitators and teachers;

• Creating a final report on the results of the post-show discussions and their experience in the position.

The Regional Trainer is responsible for:

• Providing their own transportation. Sheatre will reimburse for fuel expenses upon approval of receipts.

• Providing their own office, equipment and telephone. Sheatre will reimburse for long distance calls in the line of their responsibilities.

• Submitting time sheets and invoices to Sheatre.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have:

• Prior experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination;

• Excellent communication (written and verbal) in the main language(s) of their region, interpersonal and relationship-building skills;

• Demonstrate an acute sensitivity to and comfort with discussing the delicate subject matter addressed in FFTH/LC (dating violence, rape, sexual assault, and healthy relationships);

• Superb organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines;

• Experience working with Microsoft Office, data management, email, and Google Drive platforms;

• Training and/or experience within the not-for-profit or educational sectors;

• Strong problem solving skills;

• Ability and willingness to ensure student and volunteer safety, e.g. providing supervision and becoming familiar with disclosure response protocol;

• An interest in the performing arts and community development;

• Knowledge of service providers within their region.

Time and Pay
Contract fee: $17 per hour
Flexible hours. Intense activity during the presentation schedule of FFTH, temporary part-time during the balance of the contract. Contract payment caps will depend on the number of shows in each region.

Begins: mid-June 2017

Ends: mid-November 2017
